Borneo Trails has always been proud to highlight the history of Malaysia. One special and particular history is the 2nd World War and specifically the Sandakan Ranau Death Marches. We strive to bring visitors to visit Sabah and learn the history of the events that took place during those dark years. Two events held every year, Anzac Day and Sandakan Day. We bring on families whose lives were affected by the loss of family members and relatives. We learn from them.
This year we have missed Anzac Day and we will miss Sandakan Day. Two important days as reminders to us of the sacrifices made in order for us to enjoy our freedom.
All of us in Borneo Trails will continue remembering the sacrifices and learn from it. Amidst this pandemic we sacrifice our bit of liberty and movement so we will win against Covid-19. As we are gradually opening up our homes, schools, businesses and hopefully soon our borders too, we will once again welcome visitors to our country. We continue this small sacrifice of forsaking a little bit of our liberty and freedom because we remember the ultimate sacrifices were made for us. It is in this spirit we in Borneo Trails will continue telling the stories of the war, namely the death marches. It is in this spirit we hope to be able to welcome everyone to our shores again. It is in this spirit that we soldier on doing what we love… Lest We Forget.
